As a stand-alone, special edition publication, each year's Annual has a different look and feel. In this year's magazine, we explored a list-style format of 99 'moments', made up of an array of features and approaches: narrative, Q&A, artist contributions, photo essays, graphical stories, and illustrations. I approached this year's art direction elevating the artistic, cheeky, fun AF vibes of triple j through a super bright, colourful palette, hand lettering, and expressive graphic elements, collage and illustrations.

With sellout shows across the world in 2016 and Splendour's biggest festival tune to his name, Flume was a natural fit for the cover. Paired with a tuna of course – the national broadcaster and listeners designated mascot for massive tunes.
Arriving at the cheeky idea of Flume poking fun at photos of typical fisherman lauding over their prideful catch, we collaborated with Los Angeles photographer Jasmine Safaeian and stylist David Bonney, along with local Sydney illustrator Katherine Brickman to bring the cover to life.
