The magazine's cover, a collaboration between Russell Privett, Katherine Brickman and myself, is a gold-foil-celebratory-confetti affair re-living one of my favourite music moments of 2014: at Big Day Out, standing in the biggest sea of reflective, raining confetti; Arcade Fire howled Here Comes The Night Time into the sky while it turned to dusk in the background. Just magic!

As a stand-alone, special edition publication, each year's Annual has a different look and feel. In this year's approach, I explored a celebratory and irreverent tone of voice: from a bright and bold colour palette, expressive hand-lettering, cheeky graphic elements splashed loosely about unapologetically, imagery placed in many differing forms and shapes, to breaking mould with the rules of typography.

The 2014 triple j Annual was published through ABC Magazines, and could be purchased in newsagents, at ABC online and shops, over the summer period of 2014/15.
Below are some of the pieces I created during the concept phase, or that ended up on the proverbial cutting-room floor.
