417 Magazine commissioned an illustrated map of Springfield, Missouri — gateway to the Ozarks and birthplace of Route 66 — for a full-page spread in their annual travel issue. The map was designed to capture the spirit of Springfield and its surrounds, spotlighting the city's location and standout attractions. In collaboration with the magazine’s art director and Visit Springfield MO, I brought to life everything from the Wonders of Wildlife Aquarium and the neon-lit History Museum to the winding rivers and lake-dotted landscapes of the Ozarks, adapting my usual inky style into a simplified, vector-led map illustration. The resulting editorial map charts a vibrant journey for travellers through Springfield’s landmarks, buildings, and cultural gems — an engaging visual guide to the heart of this dynamic region.
