I combine graphic design and illustration, creating warm, playful and expressive communication for creative, entrepreneurial, purpose-driven types.

My heart lights up when I'm creating brand identities, illustrations, publications, art direction, event campaigns, packaging and lettering for people curious about crafting visual language that's an embodiment of their ideas and values.

I love working alongside those of us who are big dreamers, courageously shooting for the stars, those who are driven by their mission, brimming with ideas and a desire to grow, those who are passionate about our culture and social fabric. I'm talking about the ones of us who are daring, irreverent, imaginative, deep-thinking, and — maybe — just maybe, a little bit crazy.

For fifteen years I've been making things alongside such people and brands, including triple j, the ABC, ReachOut.com and MusicNSW. I'm currently exploring the sea-change life, and work, mostly remotely, from my studio — in Bermagui — on the south coast of NSW, Australia. I also very much love returning to collaborate with people in Sydney — my second-home city.

Aside from running an independent practice, most days you’ll find me guilty of doing introvert-like things: making illustrative side projects and art, filling up Evernote with lofty plans, devouring books, music and the ocean air, building my indoor plant-jungle and garden with my cute-as-rescue-dog Mollie by my side, or escaping to adventures along this stunning, remote coastline and other far-off, lovely places in the world.

Wondering what it's like to work with me?

Together, we'll illuminate what matters, transforming ideas into expressive, meaningful communication for your audience to fall head-over-heels with. You'll share in a think-out-loud adventure, diving in with someone who loves to work with her hands, unearth and reflect on your why and help you shoot for the stars.

Other bits and pieces.

Illustrations of mine have been published in publications including Curvy #8 and Semi-Permanent 2012. Groovin’ The Moo highly commended my tee design in their 2014 competition. I was also every bit a nerd back in 2002, collecting the Outstanding Achievement Award for my first year at Billy Blue School of Graphic Art.

Some of the things that make me smile.

Illustration • Patterns • Photography • Sketchbooks • Visual communication • Writing • Reading oh so many books • Magical realism • Good food & company • Music & films • West Wing & 30 Rock on repeat • All the podcasts • Camping • Traversing the earth • Cuba • Bolivia • Italy • New York • Plants • Gardening • Nature • Living next to the ocean • My cute as labrador x kelpie • Mindfulness • Making plans • Making lists • Making things • & all the patterns, shapes, lines and colours…

Oh hallo there!

I'm Nat Carroll, an art director, graphic designer, illustrator and strategist. Most days you'll find me tucked away in my studio down on the south coast, next to the ocean and amongst the trees. I'm a wonderer, I'm a wanderer. An escape-artist, and adventure-seeker. I'm a tragic plant-lady, vinyl, book and dog-rescuer. A foodie, music and arts lover. I'm mesmerised by all the patterns, shapes, lines and colours.
